Swede Arrested in Rayong for Drug Producing
The Swedish national Kim Roger Eriksson has been arrested in Rayong suspected of the crime of producing the illegal drug "Ya Ice," reports news.sanook.com. Local police says he has now been to transferred to Bangkok.

Thai Police found a laboratory in his house, which they believe was used to produce "Ya Ice." Thai TV Channel 3 has been running footage of the arrest and the laboratory as well.

Local Police in Rayong says to ScandAsia it was the narcotics department of Thai Police from Bangkok who arrested Kim Roger Eriksson and that they now have brought him to Bangkok, where he is being imprisoned.

The Swedish embassy in Bangkok confirms that a Swedish national has been arrested, but for know they don't have any further information:
    "We got a call from the Thai police that a Swede was arrested, but we are still waiting for the police report."

Also a criminal suspect in Sweden
According to news.sanook.com Swedish Police has searched for Kim Roger Eriksson suspected for being steroid internet dealer in Sweden. His alleged primary market was North America and Europe and according to Thai Police his income was over 100,000 US dollar per month.

Producing and exporting
In Thailand he is suspected of producing and exporting the illegal drug “Ya Ice.” According news.sanook.com he works together with Hells-Angels.
His wife claims that her husband is property agent. And she believe that the alleged “Ya Ice” drug is just washing gel.

Polisen hittade laboratorium med droger i garaget
Den 29-årige mannen flyttade till Thailand i oktober förra året.

I går greps han – med kylen full av egenproducerad narkotika.

Enligt thailändsk polis misstänks nu mannen för att vara en stor knarkkung med en inkomst på över 700 000 kronor i månaden.

Mer än två kilo av den illegala drogen ”Ya Ice” – en speciell sorts metamfetamin – fanns i kylskåpet, förpackat i små påsar, när polisen stormade den svenske 29-åringens hus i den thailändska staden Rayong i går.

Man hittade även ett laboratorie i husets garage där man tror att drogerna tillverkats.

”Trodde det var diskmedel”
Mannens thailändska fru, som befann sig i huset, hävdade att hon inte visste något om drogerna.

Istället hade hon, enligt egen utsago, levt i tron att det som fanns i mannens påsar var diskmedel.

Tjänar 700 000/månad
Det var i oktober förra året som 29-åringen, hemmahörande i Stockholm, emigrerade till Thailand och bosatte sig i Rayong. Och om man ska tro uppgifterna i thailändsk media har affärerna blomstrat på de dryga nio månaderna.

Enligt den thailändska nyhetssajten News Sanook misstänker polisen att 29-åringen är en mycket etablerad knarksmugglare. Hans primära marknad har varit USA och Europa och man misstänker att han tjänar över 700 000 kronor i månaden på sina onlineaffärer. Enligt sajten misstänks han också för samröre med Hells Angels.

– En 29-årig svensk medborgare är frihetsberövad i Thailand. Han greps i Rayong i går misstänkt för produktion och distribution av narkotika. Vi står i kontakt med thailändska myndigheter och följer ärendet, säger Joakim Larsson vid UD:s presstjänst.

Suspected Swedish Drug Manufacturer Detained in Bangkok
The Thai Police's drug unit in Bangkok is just now interviewing the Swedish national Kim Roger Eriksson, who is suspected for producing the illegal drug “Ya Ice” at his home in Rayong.

ScandAsia talked to Kim Roger Eriksson just before the police started their interview. Kim explained that a friend of his called Thomas was teaching him how to make amphetamine and then suddenly after two days he left. And then all of sudden the police showed up at his address in Rayong.
“I am tired of being chased by the Thai Police,” he says to ScandAsia.

Seated in a waiting room at the police office in Northern Bangkok Kim Roger Eriksson seemed quiet calm about the situation.

Police raid in Rayong
Yesterday Thai Police's narcotic department from Bangkok carried out a police raid at Kim Roger Eriksson's home in Rayong and found a well equipped laboratory for producing the illegal drug “Ya Ice,” reports Thai Channel 3 showing footage of the arrest and alleged drug lab.

Today the Swedish citizen has been transferred to a police office in Northern Bangkok, where he just now is being interviewed by the police.

No bail option
At the police office in Bangkok they say Kim Roger Eriksson will be put in front of a judge tomorrow. And after that he will be held in custody at a prison in Bangkok while his case will be investigated further. And in his kind of case there is no possibility of being bailed out explains the police officer.

Alleged Hells Angels
According to several Thai media the Swedish national is a member of the criminal group Hells Angels.

The embassy knows nothing
The Swedish embassy in Bangkok confirmed this afternoon that a Swedish national has been arrested, but for know they don't have any further information:
“We got a call from the Thai police that a Swede was arrested, but we are still waiting for the police report.”

ScandAsia was given a first row opportunity to talk to the Swedish drug manufacturing suspect Kim Roger Eriksson on Thursday at the Narcotics Supression Division’s Head Quarters in Bangkok because the police needed an interpreter and one readily available was ScandAsia’s Gregers Moller, who had only minutes before been refused entry as a journalist.

“If you can translate from Thai to Swedish for us you can come along, but you must leave your camera bag outside, “ he was told.

So while we were served pizza and Pepsi on the working desks of the narcotics police officers there was plenty of time to ask Kim, what this was all about.

“I was on my way back to Sweden with my wife and our little daughter to serve the time in prison I had been called home for,” Kim explained.

“I produced steroids back in Sweden and I was going to serve a sentence for that,” he elaborated.

He is handcuffed and in his civilian clothes including a tight t-shirt showing his strong shoulders and biceps.

“Now my wife will postpone the departure until she knows more of what will happen to me. The prison in Sweden will also have to be informed why I cannot show up as ordered.”

Kim says his mother Åsa Eriksson knows his wife Awatsada Sirawan, so he is sure that she will be taken good care of.

“We registered our marriage both in Sweden and in Thailand. But we decided to divorce in Thailand for practical reasons but not in Sweden where she would get public support as my wife while while I served my sentence.”

Kim was especially upset about a mysterious man he only knew as “Thomas.” He had met this guy while he was still back in Sweden about two years ago.

“I was interested in learning how to produce the drug “Ice” and he offered to teach me. He then suggested that it would be better to do this in Thailand. He had just been teaching me for two days how to do - and I had been filming it on video so I would be able to remember. Then he said he would go and pick up his girlfriend - and half an hour later the police stormed in. It is a bit too much of a coincidence!” Kim says.

Kim says he doesn’t know “Thomas” last name. He was Swedish. He should not be mistaken with his boss Thomas Nilsson of the company DNTS Construction Co. Ltd known in Sweden as Thai Hem. This “Thomas” was most likely the person who had tipped off the American Drug Enforcement Agency of the laboratory. Apart from that he could only guess.

“I have difficulty in believing Thomas was the Swedish police officer that the DEA mentions has been involved in the investigation - Swedish police officers don’t teach how to produce ice just to nail somebody?! My only contact to the Hells Angels in Sweden is a member who is in “bad standing” - but I also don’t think that would enough for them to set me up like this,” he speculates.

The first interrogation he went through was conducted by the three American officers from the DEA immediately after the arrest.

“They told me they had kept me under surveillance for over a year. They asked a lot about my connections to the Hells Angels. They also asked about Chinese contacts. I unlocked one of the computers that they confiscated for them to show them what files was on it,” he explains.

Then the DEA left him to the Thai police to take over. They want him to help open up an Apple Mac laptop with encryption of the hard disk and a password lock, but he refuses to do this until they call back the DEA officers.

“I want to ask them more about “Thomas”, he says.

“I told them about him and urged them to find him but they didn’t seem to be interested in him at all. If he was their informer, I understand why!”

After the dramatic arrest on Wednesday evening, which involved over one hundred police officers - some in bullet proof vests and black helmets - he was taken to Bangkok where he had another apartment and from there he was finally taken to the Head Quarters of the Drug Suppression Division of the the Royal Thai Police in Bangkok where he slept on the floor that night.

Now it was Thursday afternoon and the detectives of the division were getting ready to officially interrogate him for the first time.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Wittaya, who is assigned in charge of the investigation, asked for a starter Kim to acknowledge the arrest report written by the arresting officer. The report included a list of all the 46 items that were confiscated in the laboratory. As some of these items mentioned the word “amphetamine” Kim decided to refuse to sign the report.

“The police is jumping to conclusions! The laboratory report has not yet stated what chemical was in the glass containers, we have to wait for that,” he said and that was then noted down.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Wittaya then concentrated on ensuring that he understood his rights. Kim said had not yet selected a lawyer, but he would soon. He would not contact the Embassy as he didn’t think they could do anything for him. And he understood that he didn’t have to reply anything but if he said something it could be held against him in court. Listening in on the interrogation was also a police lawyer to witness that he was not forced to state or admit to anything against his own will.

Kim was told that if he pleaded guilty, the court would be more lenient in the sentence than if he was sentenced despite denying the charges against him.

“I will not plead guilty,” Kim replied.

“I want to put my defense together with my lawyer with the evidence that I have that I did not know if this other man was producing drugs in the laboratory.”

The interrogation then went on for about one hour, jumping from simple questions like if he had any sisters and brothers - he has one little sister -  to the name of the school that he graduated from - which was Timrå Gymnasium - to core questions like if he was the owner of the laboratory items  - which he confirmed he was.

“I have a license to produce liquid soap. I bought the laboratory equipment and the chemicals so that the other man could teach me how to produce liquid soap.”

Going through other confiscated material, some company papers showed that he was employed by Mr. Thomas Nilsson of the company DNTS Construction Co., Ltd. - in Sweden better known as Thai Hem. He said he was paid 100.000 baht per month as a supervisor of the houses under construction for the Swedish customers. Another item was a land title of 8000 square meters which he said belonged to his wife. The big wristwatch was his own - he had bought in Sweden for 70.000  Euro, he said. That figure derailed the interrogation for several minutes while the officer tried to calculate how much that would be in Thai Baht - a stunning amount - and the clock then passed hands among the officers before it was put back into the brown bag.

“Will it now disappear?” Kim asked with a dry smile.

“No,” the officer replied dryly. “If you are convicted you will get these items back again after you have served your sentence, but we keep them so far for further investigation.”

Finally, the interrogation was over. Kim listened to a resume of what the report said to ensure that all that was noted down there was true to his explanation. He then signed it and was led off to sleep his last night at the HQ of the Narcotics police as he would the next morning be presented to the judge and taken into custody for another 12 days in the Bangkok Remand Prison generally known as Klong Prem.

Det blir svårara och svårare att muta sig fri numera. I Pattis finns sedan 2 mån en ny ung polisgeneral som skall vara helt omöjlig att muta.

Svenska Kim riskerar dödsstraff i Thailand
BANGKOK. Svenska Kim, 29, sitter häktad i Thailand misstänkt för narkotikabrott och riskerar dödsstraff Han sitter inspärrad på fruktade Klong Prem-fängelset. För Expressen berättar han om helvetet.
- Det är slagsmål och droger och ett våldsamt klimat, säger han.

Kim Sirawan från Västernorrland har suttit häktad i Bangkok sen han greps i mitten av juli i Rayong i östra Thailand, misstänkt för att producera och sälja narkotika.
I fredags, samma dag som häktningstiden mot honom gick ut, presenterades åtalet mot honom i en domstol i Bangkok.

Misstänkt laboratorium
Han åtalas för innehav och produktion av drygt 53 gram metaamfetamin, en av de tyngsta drogerna, som också hittades i hans bostad i samband med tillslaget. Polisen hittade också ett laboratorium som misstänks ha använts för att producera drogerna.
Enligt thailändsk lag gäller dödsstraff för innehav och produktion av så stora mängder narkotika att det kan antas vara till försäljning.
Kim Sirawan kommer ursprungligen från Sundsvall och tog sin thailändska frus efternamn när de gifte sig. Han kom till Thailand för ett par år sedan och har varit verksam i den svenska fastighetsbranschen i landet.
I väntan på rättegång sitter nu Kim Sirawan stora delar av dygnet inspärrad i en cell med 58 andra fångar. Tillsammans med en amerikan är svensken den enda västerlänningen.
- Det är trångt och smutsigt, säger han till Expressen.

"Många har tuberkulos"
Fångarna har ungefär ett 60 centimeter brett utrymme att sova på. Från klockan 16 till klockan 06 hålls de inspärrade i cellen. Resten av tiden får de vistas ute på gården.
- Många av de intagna har HIV eller tuberkulos. Det är skitigt och ohygieniskt, säger svensken.
- Man är konstant sjuk, fortsätter han.
Maten är dålig men har man pengar kan man köpa sig extra mat.
- Vi har delat in oss i matlag om fyra, fem personer. Den som har pengar betalar för extra mat åt alla. I gengäld slipper man laga maten och diska, berättar han.
Han berättar om vardagen i skräckfängelset.
- Vi väcks klockan 05 och ska då packa ihop våra madrasser. Sen kommer vakterna och det blir uppräkning av fångarna. Sen släpps vi ut på gården, berättar han.
Runt 500 fångar rastas samtidigt. Med jämna mellanrum ordnas ny uppräkning och fångarna får ställa sig på led. Resten av tiden sitter de bara och väntar.
- Är det varmt brukar jag ligga i skuggan och vila. Men jag försöker också promenera, säger han.

Ett besök i väckan
Kim Sirawan får bara ta emot ett besök i veckan. När Expressen var där i tisdags rådde kalabalik bland alla anhöriga som ville få plats att komma in för att träffa fångarna.
Kim Sirawan hävdar att han är oskyldig till det han anklagas för. Laboratoriet som polisen hittade, säger han, var inte var igång för produktion.
- Jag skulle inte tillverka något, bara lära mig hur det fungerar. Den kunskapen skulle jag sen sälja vidare, påstår han.
Han lägger i stället skulden på en annan svensk man, en kemist han hyrt in för att lära honom hur laboratoriet fungerar.
Kim Sirawan misstänker att mannen hela tiden arbetat som informatör åt polisen. Mannen ska ha försvunnit strax innan tillslaget, som enligt Kim Sirawan leddes av den amerikanska knarkpolisen DEA.

Gripandet en chock
- De sa att haft mig under uppsikt en lång tid, berättar han och säger att gripandet kom som en chock.
- Det tog flera dagar innan jag fattade vad som skett. Första månaden här inne här var fruktansvärt tuff, säger han.
Men Kim Sirawan ger ett lugnt och samlat intryck. Han förklarar att han trots allt mår bra.
Han har tidigare dömts för vapen- och dopingbrott i Sverige och säger att han varit kriminell hela sitt vuxna liv.
- Jag är ingen duvunge, säger han, och berättar att det är förklaringen till att han håller sig stark.
- Jag vet hur man rör sig bland andra kriminella.
